Life is the best tutor!
I received my PhD in Chemical Engineering from McMaster University (Hamilton, ON, Canada) in 2008. I then worked as a Postdoctoral researcher at UBC for 3 years. In late 2012, I found an intensive research job had no longer worked for my parental life with two toddlers and one newborn. Therefore, I decided to work at home as a private tutor, trying to have a more flexible working schedule. I thought it was just a temporary transitional period. But well, things just did not develop as I planned. This temporary job turned out to be an unexpected long term and thus permanently altered my career.
Luckily, working as a tutor finally became an interesting experience and it also, surprisingly, brought me a successful business! During these years, mostly from one-on-one tutoring, I learned communication skills to let these young men and ladies listen to me. I learned diverse ways of thinking and expressions from my students. It is my honor to introduce the beauty of math and science to so many gifted students. I am so lucky to be liked by these energetic young people. I am very grateful to have their trust. I am very proud of seeing my students get the offers from their dreaming universities and go there to pursue new life goals.
I have been teaching math, chemistry, physics from grade 8 to college level for all of these years. At the beginning, my students were only from local areas and I only relied on my good reputation, meaning the only way to get new students was from the introduction of my previous students and parents. However, technology changes our lives. With zoom and ads online, I can help more students to improve their grades and the students are from everywhere in Canada and the US.
